Extensification of Husbandry Conditions: Can You Taste It?

In collaboration with our sister projects H2020 INTAQT, Code: Re-farm, PATHWAYS, and our partners AVEC and JUMBO, mEATquality organized an online Mini Symposium titled “Extensification of Husbandry Conditions: Can You Taste It?”.

The symposium covered a variety of topics related to sustainable husbandry practices, animal welfare, and the quality of pork, poultry, and beef meat, showcasing the diverse research efforts within our projects. The agenda can be found here.

mEATquality Project Hosts Successful Annual Consortium Meeting in Aarhus

The mEATquality project celebrated its Annual Consortium Meeting from October 2nd to 4th, 2024, in Aarhus, Denmark. The event brought together over 40 participants, including project partners and stakeholders, for three days of intensive discussions, planning, and networking.

Day 1: Progress and Planning

The first day featured presentations from Work Package leaders, who reviewed the progress of their respective areas. Separate sessions were held to address internal issues, followed by discussions on communication activities and cross-cutting topics that span multiple work packages.

Day 2: Hybrid Mini-Symposium and Site Visits

The second day kicked off with a hybrid mini symposium titled “Extensification of husbandry factors: can you taste it?”. This session included insightful talks from mEATquality colleagues and representatives from affiliated HORIZON2020 projects Pathways, Intaqt, and Recode:Farm. Contributions from multi-actor platform members Jumbo and AVEC added valuable perspectives.

Participants also visited the Danish Crown abattoirs and Gothenborg organic poultry farm, gaining firsthand insights into their sustainability and animal welfare practices.

Day 3: Final Presentations and General Assembly

The final day featured presentations on the initial results of the project. The meeting concluded with a General Assembly, summarizing the discussions and setting the stage for future activities.

The Annual Consortium Meeting was a resounding success, fostering collaboration and setting a clear path forward for the mEATquality project.
